The Sandiganbayan found National Labor Relations Commission (NLRC) Labor Arbiter Alberto Dolosa guilty of violation of Section 7(b)(2) of the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees (Republic Act No. 6713). He was ordered to pay a fine of P1,000.

It was established that from July 2005 to December 2014, Dolosa engaged in the unauthorized private practice of law by teaching at the University of Santo Tomas while simultaneously holding his government position as labor arbiter.

During the arraignment in November 2017, the accused, assisted by counsel, pleaded guilty to the charge.

Section 7(b)(2) of R.A. No. 6713 prohibits public officials and employees to engage in the private practice of their profession unless authorized by the constitution or law, provided that such practice will not conflict or tend to conflict with their official functions. ###
